"Based upon insights gathered while in altered states of consciousness, the ancient skywatchers wove an amazing calendric cosmology around the Galactic Center, a cosmology encoded into the Long Count calendar. This is why I call the Long Count calendar a Galactic calendar, and the resultant philosophical model a Galactic Cosmology. But what does the 2012 alignment mean for human beings on Earth? In general, the solstice sun will be in conjunction with the great bulge of the Galactic Center, which we can understand as a rare conjunction of Earth, the local sun, and the Galactic heart. More importantly, however, in A.D. 2012 the solstice meridian will cross over the Galactic equator.
The Galactic equator is the astronomical term for the dividing line of the Milky Way band, separating the left and right "lobes" of the sky, similar to how the Earth's equator divides the Earth into two hemispheres. On Earth, we experience distinct field-effect properties on the two sides of the equator. For example, water spins down the drain counterclockwise north of the equator, and clockwise south of the equator. Likewise, hurricanes and tornadoes in the Southern Hemisphere spin in the opposite direction of those in the Northern Hemisphere. These effects involve gyroscopic conservation of angular momentum, what we might call field-dynamic reversals. Any spinning body will exhibit these properties, and there is no reason to deny that the same phenomenon holds true for the Milky Way. On the Galactic level, the Milky Way's equator, like the Earth's equator, is the field-effect dividing line.
As with a spinning magnetic top, the field effects on one side are different from those on the other, and Maya insights offer us the notion that a field-effect reversal occurs when the solstice meridian crosses over this line. In other words, in 2012 the Earth's orientation, as defined by the solstice meridian, passes through a paradoxical null-point, much like the calm eye of a hurricane balances the surrounding chaos.
The "energy" field emanates from the Galactic Center and includes the entire electromagnetic/photon field in which our planet exists. There are dimensions of subtlety within this field -the telluric or astral realms -extending beyond physical forces of science to include spiritual planes of being. If we imagine this field as being similar to the lines of force surrounding a magnet, we can understand that our changing orientation to this field has immediate consequences, and has little to do with cause-and-effect transmission of energy between us and the Galactic Center. We are, instead, in a relationship of resonance with our source, one that connects us deeply within to each other, and, in fact, to all other beings in this Galaxy. Based upon these considerations, I would like to emphasize that the Galactic equator -the precise edge of our spiraling Galaxy -is the Zero Point location of the turnabout moment in the cycle of precession. This World Age shift occurs when the solstice sun crosses over the Galactic equator, and thus the Galactic Alignment in 2012 is about a field-effect energy reversal.
But what does this mean for life on Earth? What kind of field effects will be present on Earth during the 2012 alignment? And what occurs when the solstice meridian transitions to the other side? As suggested by the spinning-hurricane metaphor, our basic orientations will be inverted. On the level of human civilization, our basic assumptions and foundational values will be exposed, and we will have the opportunity to embrace values long since driven under the surface of our collective consciousness. When a given set of rules and assumptions has run its course, and has led civilization to the end of a particular road, the opposite orientation begins to appear. The full manifestation of one style of human expression thus gives way, like the old year gives way to the new, to a fresh style based upon a completely opposite set of values and assumptions. This polarization is beautifully symbolized by the Chinese Tai-Chi symbol, which is very similar to a Mesoamerican design commonly referred to as Hunab Ku, from the Nuttall Codex.
Both of these symbols portray a process-oriented transformation from one extreme to the other that occurs on many levels of reality, from night changing into day to the evolution of values in a civilization. In terms of the spiritual evolution of human beings, this metaphor evokes eras of darkness giving way to eras of light, the eternal battle between ignorance and consciousness, and we can thus begin to understand the 2012 field-reversal as a moment in which the human spirit can emerge from unconscious patterns and blossom. The Swiss psychologist Carl Jung called this process of reversal enantiodromia. On the level of civilization, enantiodromia occurs over relatively brief periods of cultural chaos, and cultural transformation affects peoples' spiritual values, as well as the scientific and philosophical underpinnings of society's thinkers and policy makers. During these eras of social change, a polarization of values occurs, opposite camps define themselves and pull apart, each forming a new set of values, belief systems, and philosophies.
These are complex evolutionary processes ruled by the universal principles of birth, growth, and death, but we can imagine what this process of polarization is moving toward if we draw from a cellular metaphor. During cell mitosis, one cell pulls itself apart and divides into two cells, a previous cellular "oneness" is breached, and breached again, and yet again, as the cells continuously divide to form new, whole cells. At first, cellular splitting may appear degenerative because stability is lost and wholeness is constantly breached. However, this "breaking apart" of cell mitosis inaugurates embryogenesis, the most miraculous and transformative growth process of human becoming. In other words, cell mitosis is a splitting process that results in the seemingly blind generation of more cells that, however, is driven by an inner ordering program designed to create one unified being, on a higher level -a level beyond the dimension of the cell. If we apply this cellular metaphor to the level of human civilization and the evolution of human consciousness, periods of historical transformation during which polarization occurs signal the germination of a higher being, and the possible union of polarized camps on a higher level.
The Maya understood the principle of enantiodromia and believed it was driven by our changing orientation to the field-effects of the Galaxy. The 260-day tzolkin calendar is based upon the 260-day period of human embryogenesis, and, on a higher level, the 260-day tzolkin symbolizes, or structures, the 26,000-year period of precession, what we might call human spiritual embryogenesis. The Maya believed that the 26,000-year Great Year of precession is a spiritual gestation period for humanity, and that the 2012 alignment will catalyze the birth of what has been growing on this planet for 26,000 years. For the Maya, Father Sun's movement into union with Cosmic Mother's heart also signified the insemination, or seeding, of what will come to fruition in 26,000 years. The 2012 era is about the birth of something new on this planet, but it is also a death, the rupture of the womb-world that held us comfortably warm for millennia, unaware of the larger world outside of our limited sights.
On small or local levels of manifestation -in cultural revivals and in religious movements for example -the historical process of polarization has occurred before, but the 2012 era represents a global reversal. On a literal level of interpretation, one supported by many popular writers, the field-effect reversal that mystics and futurists intuitively feel occurring on this planet bodes an impending pole shift, a literal shift in the position of the Earth's North Celestial Pole, an event that would have disastrous effects around the globe. According to geologists, pole shifts indeed have occurred in the past; and if we are due for one now, I suppose there is not much we can do about it. Visions of apocalypse, however, may originate more in erroneous notions of linear time combined with fears implanted by our own Judeo-Christian conditioning than in reality. As a result of my studies of Maya end-date cosmology, I prefer to emphasize what might be termed a pole shift in our collective psyche. This places the possibility of successful, positive transformation squarely in our own hands. What I suspect this is about is already underway -a shift from the dominator mode so characteristic of our civilization to a partnership style. Social historian Riane Eisler emphasizes that these terms -dominator and partnership -refer to an opposed orientation in terms of cultural values, rather than qualities intrinsic to patriarchy (males) and matriarchy (females). Her distinction is important, for if patriarchy upholds the values of hierarchical dominance and territorialism, matriarchy is the exact same style of organization except with women, rather than men, at the top of the hierarchy. Both are dominator modes of social orientation. According to Eisler, the partnership mode, on the other hand, upholds the values of relationship, cocreation, and life-affirmation through partnership with nature and other human beings. The partnership mode does not "belong" to the female principle any more than the dominator mode belongs to the male.
Western or Euro-American civilization currently rules the globe through dominator forms of coercion and resource control. This style of being-in-the-world can be traced back to the early city-states of Sumer, the very beginnings of the current chapter in Earth's history. Before Sumer, however, early ceremonial sites such as Çatal Hüyük in Central Turkey reveal that a very different social style prevailed in late Neolithic times, one that worshiped the Great Mother as the supreme life-principle and that honored relationship over status, partnership rather than domination. The Anatolian culture of the seventh millennium B.C. represented a partnership ideal with roots extending far back into the Paleolithic. Research by archaeologist Marija Gimbutas demonstrated that the Magdalenian culture of ancient Europe, which thrived more than 19,000 years ago, was linked with distant trade centers, worshiped the Great Mother, and may have had a form of glyphic writing.
Clearly, our distant ancestors participated in a style of culture that is fundamentally antithetical to our own. And the pendulum of enantiodromia is swinging, pulling us out of ingrained habits, and stimulating a renaissance of an ancient paradigm that may be our only salvation. Western civilization is now confronting its own shadow in the form of global pollution, institutionalized corporate greed, and political instability. Fortunately, social upheavals and changes in the last thirty years indicate that we already appear to be moving in a direction that celebrates cocreation, relationship, and working together rather than violence, conquest, and force. In this emerging paradigm, we are indispensible cocreators of the post-shift world. The real pole shift may thus be about a shift in our fundamental orientation to each other and to the world, stimulated by our recommitment to life-affirming values. To go forward on our journey to collective wholeness, we must abandon our illusions and return to the center, back to rejuvenation within the Great Mother, our cosmic heart and source.
This book ends with a departure, for, having been led through the gate of Galactic initiation to the threshold of a new world, a new beginning opens to us, filled with its own challenges and joys. The Maya understood that human civilization cycles from one extreme form of social organization to the other. Out of this process of polarization, or spiritual mitosis, arises a new, greater being. Every time the cosmic cell divides, every 26,000 years, we are one step closer to the birth of that vast higher being of which we are just cells. Our committed, willing participation in the galactic processes of Maya cosmogenesis, recognizing our place in the great chain of creation, is what enobles our souls and elevates our spirits to a plane infused with unity and relationship. The opening doorway of baktun thirteen (Dec 21st 2012) offers us conscious relationship with each other and a creative participation with the Earth-process that gives birth to our higher selves."

"On 12/21/12 our Solar System, with the Sun at its center, will, as the Maya have for millennia maintained, eclipse the view from Earth of the center of the Milky Way. This happens only once every 26, 000 years. Ancient Mayan astronomers considered this center spot to be the Milky Way's womb, a belief now supported by voluminous evidence that that's where the galaxy's stars are created. Astronomers now suspect that there is a black hole right at the center sucking up matter, energy, and time that will serve as raw materials for creation of future stars.
In other words, whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the centerpoint of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12, at 11:11 PM Universal Time, for the first time in 26, 000 years. All because of a little wobble in the Earth's rotation.
But why should a brief disruption of so distant a source as the center of the galaxy have any real consequences for our planet or its people? After all, we can go for days, weeks even, with no sunlight or moonlight without significant distress. The best analogy is the way that even a momentary disruption of electrical power can cause the clocks on VCRs and microwaves to go from keeping perfect time to blinking on and off meaninglessly until they are reset by hand. Our being even briefly cut off from the emanations from the center of the galaxy will, the Maya believe, throw out of kilter vital mechanisms of our bodies and of the Earth."

I have come to the understanding that musicians today are the modern day shamans of old. Shamans were sorcerers and storytellers. They would bless the tribes with visions and with stories. Because of their capabilities to inspire, they were allowed to eat better in non-egalitarian societies. Musicians these days seem to me to be the shamans of "yestermillenium". As the shamans have once done, musicians also fill our lives with rhythms, visions and stories. Through a manufactured separation between musician and fan came to be this deifying of idols. Look at American Idol, a "three months ago" nobody has their name shouted out religiously by a herd of self-selected unworthy followers. So, what? So, you worship false idols. You should be worshipping the work in progress that is YOU. No harm in appreciating the message or poetic construction of a song, but the messenger shouldn't be the one being worshipped. This boils down also to the idea that certain shamans have stories to tell, while others merely borrow other peoples' stories and others still, fill the air with noises and yet nothing of substance is uttered.
Now tell me, what does your favourite modern day shaman say in his or her story?

Besides for the collection of TOOL videos, this is one of the best animated short films out there.
I fell upon it in high school (Ifilm) and just rediscovered it again now. It is still as poignant and relevant as ever.

Take these 10 minutes and make the start of change! If you can willingly invest time in irrelevant gossip/drama (the Birtney, Paris, Linsey etc.. DISTRACTION), you can also read the following!
No Wars, No debts, No Fears: For a truly trailblazing global change, Americans vote for Dr. Ron Paul!
I, Matt Pawelczak, never cared about politics until I understood that certain individuals in power use it to push their personal agendas (Bush regime and oil extraction, fear, ignorance and control) instead of the public's. Now, the power belongs to the people. When alcohol was prohibited, PEOPLE fought (in all ways) to have it back and drinking is now once again legal. There are other examples. Ask for what you need and the governments and even corporations (especially if there is a fat buck to be made in the process) will eventually hand it out.
But I'm not American? The last time it was confirmed, the earth is round and interconnected. You may not be American but your friend/ acquaintance/ loved one might be and it is up to that person and others who can do so to take charge. Change, if it happens will have effects beyond socially constructed borders. And I want this illegal war to end!
Hurricane "Dubya" is leaving a colossal mess behind. The one who takes over the challenge will have to have a strong character and be a visionary. Enter: Dr. Ron Paul.
Dr. Paul has the vision and he wants to share it with Americans and eventually, the globe.

They hovered over a tumultuous ocean, her and him. The sky was dark and unforgiving. The only source of light escaping the celestial tar black cotton balls were the zig-zag patterns of lightning, cracking the Heavens into fissures, thin ice being stomped on. Iz-So-Belle and Moykel stood at a distance from each other, tearing at an unraveling umbilical cord. The greater the distance between them, the more strain their bond took and the fewer the ligaments holding steady their once complete connection. She, a delicate, graceful yet, razor sharp wraith, dressed in swan accouterment, gazed down as the growing tidal waves were reaching, with every new crest, closer to the soles of their feet. Moykel was a mountain, his flesh made of earth, clay and grass. His scalp was the fertile soil where Sequoia trees flourished and grew to record heights. After an exhaustive series of failed attempts to shrink the distance between them: when one would approach the other, the umbilical cord between the two entities would linger and go limp, falling prey to the corrosive waters below, the conjoined ones turned their backs on each other. The wind raged between the corridor they had created. As it would howl through the tunnel, the wind would steal some of Iz-So-Belle's fragrance and whiff it by Moykel's boulder of a nose. Looking down at the cord binding the two Gods, Moykel could not bear to imagine this thread being one day severed and yet it seemed inevitable. Out of sheer desperation, having tried all other possibilities, Moykel reached into the forest of his chest and picked out of it, Stropharia cubensis, the one that binds. The plant presented itself to him in the shape of its purpose. Unlike the fungal form it usually occupies, Moykel held in his hand two threads interwoven tightly together. Having the understanding that this coupling thread, making a (safety)line, allowed for a deeper understanding, a more profound connection, a strengthened bond, even from a distance, Moykel saw hope on the horizon, instead of the iceberg that haunted him so, ever since turning his back. The mountainous entity once more faced the direction of his correlate. In silence, he observed the Swan Goddess' back, her snow white hair tangoing with gales, her long and slender neck holding up high the crown of her charms and the unruffled beauty of her plumage. The foliage of his heart raged, burning with the light and warmth of a new forest fire. He sensed that once again, their fiery bond would rekindle, grow anew, deepen, strengthen and last for they would find mutual understanding. Holding back his imminent joy, he called her name out with a hopeful tone, "Iz-So-Belle." The back of her head soon again replaced her face, he held out his hands with the token of interconnectivity and presented it to her. Without even the hint of looking down, she swung her arm in one swift motion and with a single feather, chopped off Moykel's hands. The hands, still holding in their grasp the one that binds, fell in the clouded waters and began disintegrating. As the waters ate away Moykel's hands, they left particles of Stropharia cubensis, which very soon also volatilized. Then, a shock wave ripped through their bodies. All went black. When they regained consciousness, they found themselves, next to each other, unable to move, neck deep in sand, watching helplessly as the corrosive rising tides from the ocean of Alcohol neared.
>> A passionate group of Montrealers try to
spread the message of the Republican
Party’s biggest maverick
by PATRICK LEJTENYI
It’s Sunday, Feb. 3, and in the back of the Bar-B-Barn on Guy, a revolution is being plotted. Sometimes the revolution is plotted at a Cage aux Sports, but, this being Super Bowl Sunday, it was decided the Bar-B-Barn’s a better option.
The group isn’t made up of your run-of-the-mill anti-government, anti-globalization or anti-war activists, although those topics are popular here. But it remains a strange fact that a good many left-wing activists around the world share some common principles with a maverick Republican presidential candidate from Texas. The people gathered at the Bar-B-Barn are the Montreal Ron Paul Meetup Group, and they want to spread the word of the humble country doctor-congressman’s plan to change America forever, and, they think, for the better.
Netroots north and south
What attracts the group’s members to Paul is his emphasis on civil liberties and decoupling the United States from any kind of foreign entanglement—from foreign wars to international organizations like the UN. Domestically, it means devolving power from the federal to the state level on everything from abortion rights to gun control to environmental regulation. He wants to abolish income tax and the Federal Reserve Board, hates the war on drugs and is also strongly opposed to illegal immigration, voting in favour of the 2006 Secure Fence Act. A long-standing Republican, Paul ran as the Libertarian candidate for president in 1988, coming in third with 0.5 per cent of the popular vote.
The Montreal Meetup Group—one of almost 1,200 groups in 32 countries, according to ronpaul.meetup.com/about (Montreal ranks 429, with 71 members; the biggest is New York City’s, with 1,330)—is organized by Jacques “Jack” Grondin, a 60-year-old semi-retired engineer who’d never heard of Meetup Groups before Paul came along. But that’s representative of what’s happening in the United States. Distrustful of Big Media, Big Business, Big Politics and Big Government, Paul’s supporters have taken to the Internet in droves, organizing their own events and message dissemination, and proudly point out that they’ve set records in online fundraising. He also has more MySpace friends, at 128,500, than John McCain and Mike Huckabee combined (but trails both Hillary Clinton, with 182,636, and Barack Obama, with 273,702, badly).
Grondin says he and the 70 other group members are interested in Paul’s campaign because, “We’re worried about where individual freedoms are going, we’re worried about having Canada at war, which is essentially to build a pipeline though Afghanistan, we’re worried about America being at war and spending a fortune in Iraq.”
Asked why Canadians are supporting Paul, he says, “If we can get a man like this in the White House, it’s a major deal, not only for America, but for Canada and for the world.”
Grondin, like Paul, is a self-described libertarian, but there’s no ideological centre to the group’s politics. “I’m pretty much middle of the spectrum myself, but the group has representatives from the far left and the far right. The issue is to try and unite them in pushing the cart in the right way for Ron Paul.”
Conspiracies big and small
Throughout the conversation, Grondin tries to stay on-message about the Paul candidacy—liberty, truth and freedom from all outside influence—and away from personal politics. He does say that 9/11 was an inside job, and that there are plans “well advanced, in deep secrecy I should add, to turn North America into a union, much like the European Union,” and to build the North American Corridor.
Others, like Grant Rostig, a former Torontonian who lives in Austin, Texas, but occasionally visits here and participated in the meeting, says 9/11 at the very least bears further investigation, a position Paul supports. Rostig, however, does mention that entities like the Bilderbergers, the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations are out to create a “New World Order.” Rostig ran for Congress in 2006, with Paul’s endorsement, but lost.
Realistically, Paul’s candidacy for presidency is already over. His best showing on Super Tuesday was second place in Montana. Last weekend, he formally announced he’d be streamlining his campaign, but not bowing out. Meanwhile, he’ll be concentrating on running his congressional race, hoping for an 11th consecutive term—although for the first time in years, he has to campaign to win the Republican primary, a sign that he is not the Republican establishment’s first choice.
Grondin writes in an e-mail this week that, while more effort needs to be spent on protecting his seat in the House in order to ensure that he is heard, the race for the White House is still on.
“These changes to the campaign, far from being the capitulation that his opponents would claim, represent an escalation of the hostilities to two fronts.”
